Recently there has been much talk about a study that found people who drank at least 1 diet soda per day were more likely to gain weight and suffer metabolic syndrome.
I know there are a lot of conflicting information about weight loss. But if you want to lose weight and decreased fat stomach, read this article.
There are 2 main points I want to do about obesity in American society. In my opinion …
# 1 The excessive sugar consumption is wreaking havoc on our metabolism.
# 2 Excessive consumption of chemicals is wreaking havoc on our metabolism.
For some people switching to diet soda for regular soda will help them lose weight because of the decrease in sugar consumption and calories. But for others, chemicals and artificial sweeteners in diet sodas negatively affect the body's metabolism.
There is evidence which suggests that artificial sweeteners are toxic to the body, and this can adversely affect your metabolism. Artificial sweeteners have received most attention, but artificial sweeteners can be the lesser of two evils in the assault on our metabolism and our waist.
Sodas have another problem besides sugar or artificial sweeteners.
And that problem is … Phosphoric acid.
Phosphoric acid is an ingredient in soft drinks beating slows our metabolism, but nobody is talking about it. Phosphoric acid is a chemical used to acidify foods and beverages, and also provides a bitter taste.
Here's the problem … when consuming acidic, your body becomes more acidic. When your body becomes more acidic all cells work less efficiently and their metabolism slows.
Your body has a specific pH level. pH refers to potential hydrogen and 0-14 ranges. 0 is the most acidic and 14 is the most basic (or alkaline). 7 is neutral and about 7.4 is optimal for blood.
Many weight loss plans (like the book The Ultimate Solution pH by Michelle Schoffro Cook, DNM) focus on correcting pH balance making your body less acidic, and my opinion is that the acid consumption is potentially another reason diet soda consumption is related to the development of metabolic syndrome and weight gain.
Phosphoric acid is an irritant for the digestive system and will slow your metabolism and negatively affect cell function.
Artificial sweeteners can not be the ringleader in the assault in our metabolism. Our digestive system is always being bombarded with irritants, such as sugar, chemicals and preservatives, and constantly adding acid for your digestive system will probably decrease the body's ability to burn fat and stay healthy.
In a perfect world not consumed food or drinks with chemicals or preservatives, but do not live in a perfect world.
So if you're trying to lose stomach fat or lose weight, I recommend you do your best to avoid chemicals when you can, and try to drink clean filtered or distilled water as often as possible.
